5-Day Family Intensives Program
Potomac Family Intensives provides transformational family therapy through short-term, intensive family experiences. Potomac addresses the root cause of what keeps families stuck in dysfunctional patterns by surrounding the family with an exceptional amount of support. It is 5-10 days of family therapy that include state-of-the-art clinical interventions, neurotherapies, and experiential exercises. Potomac family intensive has not only demonstrated effectiveness in improving young people’s self-concept, anxiety, depression, and shame, but has been characterized as providing the healing effects of six months of therapy in only one to two weeks.
Cecily Mitchell, MA. is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. She has specialized training in Early Childhood Trauma, Brainspotting, and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. Cecily has worked in residential, school and outpatient programs, and is excited about what Vive Family Intensive brings to the mental health field. Cecily lives in Springfield, Missouri with her husband Levi and two children Grace and Maximus.
Sara joins Vive with extensive experience in working with adolescents and families. Prior to coming to Embark, Sara worked at a residential treatment center in Chicago as the Spirituality and Christian Program Coordinator, where Sara oversaw spirituality programming across campus and supervised and trained the individual and family therapists on the Christian team. Sara also provided family and individual therapy at this treatment center. Sara has also worked as a family therapist in the Chicago area where she specialized in multi-systemic therapy for adolescents and their families who were part of the juvenile justice system. Prior to pursing further education and training in clinical psychology, Sara spent several years living and working in Asia.
Sara earned her undergraduate degree in family psychology from Oklahoma Baptist University and her Master’s degree in clinical psychology from Wheaton College in Illinois. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri. Sara is a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).
Sara lives in Springfield, Missouri, and enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and being outdoors when she isn’t working.
Kathy was born and raised in the St. Louis area. Kathy comes from a large family, she has nine brothers and sisters – 2 of her brothers live here at the lake and the other 7 live in the St. Louis area. Through her teenage years, she spent her summers living and working at the lake. Kathy graduated from Ursuline Academy in St. Louis and stayed in Missouri to attend college. Later she moved to Southwest Florida, where she met and married her husband, Joe and has been married for 24 years. Kathy spent several years in the restaurant business and then worked twenty years in Residential Property Management. Kathy and Joe always loved vacationing at the lake and finally decided to move back to Missouri to be near family in 2010.
