About Potomac Programs
Potomac Programs has experience dealing with a variety of behavioral and emotional challenges. We’re taking on the Big Hairy Audacious Goal of bringing anxiety, depression, and suicides among those we love to all-time lows by 2028.
Most teens and young adults that take part in our treatment programs truly enjoy the experience. Here’s what they tell us they like most about Potomac Programs: the warm, welcoming, and non-institutional atmosphere, the experiential elements of the program, the supportive staff, and the positive peer culture of teens and young adults who are serious about making progress with recovery and wellness.
How do we do it? We integrate many important program elements that keep young people engaged, interested, and invested. Research points to this conclusion: keeping young people invested in treatment longer results in better outcomes. In fact, practically everything we do in our programs is based on current research in the field of behavioral healthcare that has been demonstrated to improve successful outcomes for teens and young adults.
Every program at Potomac Programs utilizes peer mentors. These are young people who have been sober or in recovery for a year or more. They act as a bridge between clients and therapists. They model positive peer behavior and have been highly effective in teaching about healthy relationships and attunement.
Our staff members are licensed mental health professionals who have years of experience working with teens in treatment and—Potomac Programs has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for behavioral healthcare. The Gold Seal of Approval is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.
